Golfing Champion Tiger Woods Survived a Deadly Car Accident
The golf legend Tiger Woods met a roll-over car accident on early Tuesday morning in Los Angeles. He was seriously injured and received injuries on his lower right leg and ankle. He is currently awake and responsive in the hospital room.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff, Alex Villanueva, the 45 years old golf star was driving a 2021 Genesis GV8o midsize SUV through the road that is notorious for accidents, since it is downhill and has a sharp curve and turns, a car can pick up speed without accelerating. He somehow lost control of his SUV, crossed a median, and skewed across the two roads, his car rolled several times before hitting a tree. He was driving alone and was wearing a seatbelt. The advanced safety features of the car played a vital role in saving his life. The County Sheriff says, “We don’t contemplate any charges whatsoever in this crash,” in a Facebook Live chat. “This remains an accident. An accident is not a crime. They do happen, unfortunately.”
Tiger Woods’s official Twitter account shared a tweet in which Dr. Anish Mahajan, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Interim CEO at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center talked about his injuries and treatment.
“Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery by Orthopedic trauma specialists at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center. Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia. Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required the surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling.”
